Maico is a social enterprise concept aimed at eradicating trachoma – an infectious eye disease that blinds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth across Australia.

Trachoma hasn’t affected non-Indigenous Australians for over a century. Research reveals racism is a critical determinant of Indigenous health1. Recognising the effect of systemic racism in Australia’s medical industry, Maico strives to inspire a world where racism no longer affects the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Maico partners with talented Indigenous Australian artists to bring you authentic homeware and giftware. All profits are used to raise awareness of the impact of racism on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our healthcare system and improve access to water infrastructure and hygiene facilities throughout communities.
